City Growing: Fall Plantings to Extend the Season
September 12, 2009 10:00am
-September 12, 2009 1:00pm
Get hands-on experience in how to extend your growing season with a "City Growing Intensive" work and learn day at Angelic Organics Learning Center's Chicago urban farmstead at First Presbyterian Church.
We'll start with a brief overview of year round growing, factors to consider, and the steps you need to take to get a year round harvest. Then you'll have a chance to work along Learning Center staff to prepare and plant beds to grow vegetables into the fall and winter. The day may also include fall garden activities such as seed saving, compost building, and greenhouse cleanup.
Please come ready to get dirty and work outdoors in any weather. If you prefer to work using gloves, please bring your own.
Join us to continue to work and learn about season extension at City Growing: Build a Low Tunnel on October 17.
