Farmer Training Initiative
Sustainable farms can provide farm families with a good quality of life; protect our land, air, and water; and support the local economy. Yet in the US, farmers over 65 outnumber those under 35 by 3-to-1. More than 400 million acres of farmland will change hands in the next twenty years. Will it be farmed? Where will the next generation of farmers come from? How will they find the support needed to succeed?
Angelic Organics Learning Center’s Farmer Training Initiative is working to train our next generation of sustainable farmers. We help urban and rural people learn directly from our region’s best farmers and begin growing for market. Led by experienced farmers from the Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training (CRAFT), we offer business planning (Stateline Farm Beginnings®), on-farm training, and mentoring.
CRAFT (Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training)
Are you looking for on-farm training in sustainable agriculture? CRAFT trains people with all levels of experience who want to pursue a life in farming.
Are you a beginning farmer or an experienced farmer ready to transition to sustainable farming? Stateline Farm Beginnings® can help you launch your sustainable farm business.
Farmer Development Scholarship Program
The Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training (CRAFT) and Angelic Organics Learning Center have created the Farmer Development Scholarship Program to help farmers in our network offset the costs of continuing education as they build and grow their young farm businesses.
Farm Dreams
Unsure where to start? Farm Dreams is a half-day introductory workshop to help you decide whether to pursue farming as a career, and what resources are available to help realize your farm dream. Workshops are offered at our farm in Caledonia.
